Duban Sevastian Gomez Marquez, director of Radio Rebel, is a 22 year old young man from Bogota, Colombia, who has stood out for his deep passion for education and community involvement. From an early age, Duban showed a great interest in helping others and making a positive impact on his environment. His entrepreneurial spirit has led him to create several community and radio projects that reflect his dedication and creativity.
One of his most notable achievements is the creation of Radio Rebel, a station that has revolutionized local radio with innovative programs on daily life, music and education. Under his direction, Radio Rebel has launched successful programs such as The Morning Rebel, Nación Rebel, Clásicos de las Décadas, la Música de los Animales-Radio Haku, Jazz y Blues among others, which not only entertain, but also educate and inspire its audience.
In addition to his work in radio, Duban has demonstrated a strong commitment to education through his work as a teacher. He has taught courses on ethics, values, conflict resolution, teamwork, leadership, citizen participation and teen pregnancy prevention, to name a few. These courses, offered to students of all ages and to the community in general, have been possible thanks to his collaboration with the School of the Institute for Participation and Community Action (IDPAC).
In search of new experiences and opportunities to serve his community, Duban joined the National Police as a Brigadier Police Auxiliary in 2022, remaining in the position until May 2024. During this time, he not only strengthened his skills and knowledge in citizen security, but also contributed his talent in graphic design for the creation of educational materials and institutional audiovisual pieces.
His passion for education led him to study a Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences at the Corporación Universitaria Iberoamericana, where he aspires to become a teacher and dedicate his life to educating new generations.
Duban has broadened his academic background through studies at more than seven universities and various international institutions, such as the School of Public Administration, Universidad de los Andes, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, and Universidad Nacional de Colombia, among others. He has also participated in training programs offered by the UN, the Instituto Distrital de la Participación y Acción Comunal (IDPAC), MINTIC, Reuters, and Google, among others.
The combination of his experience, training and passion for community service makes Duban Gomez an inspirational leader and outstanding professional in his field, whose influence continues to grow as he continues to transform radio and education in Bogotá and beyond.
